Job Responsibilities York Technical College, a member of the South Carolina Technical and Comprehensive Education System, is a public, two-year institution of higher education that offers a variety of associate degrees, diplomas, and certificates.
Through maximizing student success, the College seeks to contribute to the economic growth and development of York, Lancaster, and Chester counties and of the State.
The Windows/VMWare Server Administrator performs the following functions:
Provides primary support for an approximately 80 server VMWare environment, including storage, enterprise back-up, server / storage hardware, VMWare, Microsoft Windows server, ADFS authentication, Office 365.
Provides back-up support for network core, edge, VPN, routers, firewalls, and networking to remote locations.
Troubleshoots complex network problems, monitors utilization, and recommends improvements to IT services.
Performs daily health checks (e.
g.
Solarwinds, Commvault, Office 365 dashboards) and monthly security patching.
Leads investigation to resolution of trouble tickets escalated to Tier 3.
Participates in other troubleshooting efforts as required.
Maintains up to date documentation on infrastructure processes, procedures, and configurations.
Participates in college's IT Security Plan to continuously improve the IT security posture of the college, including review of security logs, system configurations, responding to malicious email, and protecting confidential data.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum and Additional Requirements A Bachelor's degree in information technology systems, computer science, or related field and two years of experience in information technology systems or related area.
Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.
Must have knowledge of VMWare, Windows server operating system, Network core, switches, firewalls, Active Directory authentication, email, server backup software, SAN storage, and IT security principles.
