9 York County, SC York County, SC Full-time Full-time $39,600 a year $39,600 a year 2 days ago 2 days ago 2 days ago Reporting to the Chair of the Music Department , the Administrative Assistant provides administrative support and helps coordinate all department programs/activities, including scheduling, promotions, payroll, budget and data management.
Serves as the department receptionist.
Performs general administrative support functions:
Prepares regular and ad hoc reports; maintains the official department calendar and the Chair's appointment calendar; distributes keys and manages key card access to department facilities; submits work orders to Facilities Management; maintains departmental advising folders for all music majors; and screens and routes phone calls as needed.
Maintains departmental budget and provides periodic reports for the Chair.
Orders equipment and educational supplies.
Reconciles VISA bank statements for departmental credit cards and reconciles procurement cards for the office, department chair and technical director.
Coordinates all major on-campus events and guest artists sponsored by the department and any related receptions or activities.
Assists with website maintenance.
Helps coordinate music scholarship and entrance auditions; corresponds with prospective students/parents to arrange for special auditions with faculty committees; and assists the chair in advising new freshmen during summer orientation sessions.
Handles employment paperwork for part-time faculty and staff and helps provide orientation to new employees.
Prepares contracts for guest artists and performers and handles any requisite housing and travel arrangements.
Oversees the Academy of Music:
deposits tuition payments and handles all Academy of Music accounts; processes payroll for Academy staff and faculty; works closely with the faculty coordinator and communicates with the parents of prospective students regarding programs, schedules and tuition.
Supervises and maintains wind, string and piano inventories and arranges for necessary maintenance and annual inventories.
Coordinates all aspects of application, enrollment and registration for undergraduate and graduate students enrolled in the summer music workshops and department recruiting events.
High school diploma and five years of responsible administrative experience; Associate's degree and three years of responsible administrative experience; or Bachelor's degree and one year of responsible administrative experience.
Knowledge of general office management policies, practices and procedures.
Ability to effectively coordinate a variety of tasks simultaneously; exercise sound judgment and discretion when working with confidential information; and communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Sufficient technical ability to learn and troubleshoot software required to perform job duties at a high level.
Familiarity with musical terminology, including proper spelling, and instruments.
Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships with faculty, staff, students and the general public.
Exceptional organizational and customer service skills.
Employees are not eligible for telecommuting/remote work during their 12-month probationary period.
After that time, certain positions may be eligible for telecommuting/remote work at the discretion of the supervisor and in accordance with Winthrop policies.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
