About our opportunity The Information Technology Department, Records Management Division is excited to hire a non-exempt Scanning Technician to join their team! The purpose of this position is to ensure that County records are stored electronically in a manner that complies with all applicable laws in accordance with SC Public Records Act; responsible for receiving and processing documents to be scanned for various York County departments.
Full Salary Range:
Pay Grade 106; $15.
59 - $24.
16 per hour.
Salary is determined based on experience and/or education.
Work Schedule:
Monday - Friday, 8:
00 am - 5:
00 pm (40 hours per week) Duties and
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and prepare documents for scanning.
Print required barcodes, remove staples and clips.
Return documents to original state after scanning, while being careful to not damage or alter the original record.
Scan documents.
Input case file data into Records Management System.
Coordinate the shipment or transfer of the documents to and from the Records Management department and the appropriate County department or storage facility.
Offers training, advice and assistance as needed for the end users in various departments that use the scanning software.
Performs necessary research on misfiled/incomplete documents (such as name searches in the State CMS system; using the County GIS system for locating addresses or property numbers for Building Permits and Mobile Home property cards; using the Assessor Property Card repository for locating property owners; etc.
) Organizes records that are received out of sequence (Building Permits out of sequence; documents filed in the wrong folders for Common Pleas files; etc.
), after scanning, are returned to the files in the order they should have been originally filed.
Screens all documents for personal information.
Redacts such information.
Images not redactable electronically require blacklining, prior to scanning.
Redaction electronically is completed before images are saved in the repository.
Receives and responds to routine inquiries and requests for assistance from other County departments, divisions, attorneys, outside agencies and the public.
Answers the telephone; provides accurate information to callers and/or forwards calls to appropriate personnel; takes messages as needed.
Attends training, meetings seminars and/or workshops to maintain skills subsequent to system upgrades or enhancements, and to improve job knowledge or skills.
Performs daily maintenance on scanners, such as cleaning the rollers and glass glides.
About you Experience and Education:
High School Graduation or GED equivalent.
One (1) year of experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
Certifications and Licenses:
Must complete Level 1 CJIS Security Test and Fingerprinting.
Applicants with equivalent experience and/or education may be considered.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
